I tried to skip my period, now I wont stop bleeding?

I have herpes 2 and I always have and outbreak after my period because my hormones fluctuate. My gynaecologist said I should skip my period for 6 months to stop these outbreaks.
I took my birth control Yasmin without a break but my period still came. It now won't  stop? I have kept on taking my pill but I have been bleeding for 12 days. Will my body get used to it and go back to normal?
