Implanon and Thyroid problems

I have just had the Implanon Implant removed after 2 years. When I had it put in I experienced loads of problems especially with my thyroid which became overactive. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced these symptoms? As the thyroid gland controls the body's hormones and Implanon is a Hormonal implant it doesn't seem impossible the two could be linked, however I can find no information about it.
