Implant turning me into a monster

Implant turning me into a monster

I really need non-doctor advice on this, the doctors and nurses sound all the same like they are reading the same paragraph out of a book.
I had the implant in 3 months ago, i've had non-stop bleeding which turned into a 5day period followed by 2 days off pattern each week and now still have the horrible brown stuff that looks like dead meat, yey. But thats the easiest part about this, theres the headaches, the hot flushes, backaches, cramps, tiredness, feeling down and the worst of all is the mood swings which swing minute to minute. I shout and scream at my children for the smallest thing, especially if i am having a hot flush, they are only 4, 2 and 6 months old and i fear if i keep this in much longer my children will either hate me or be terrified of me and i will probably lose my partner as well. The doctor wants me to try having the combined pill with it because it might control the bleeding but says he has no idea if it will affect the other side effects or make them go away- i have a feeling that they won't. The thing is is that i had kind of the same problems with the injection, the pill made me miserabled and i lost sex drive and to top it i got pregnant whilst i was on it, miserable and no sex drive with the hormone coil and my body pushed out the copper coil after a month and i was pregnant within 1 week of it coming out. I REALLY don't have any options left, i don't want to tie my tubes because i am not done yet, i just wanted a nice long break to enjoy the kids i have but that being spoiled by the implant.

Have you tried the nuva ring? I must say I have tried quite a few different methods and with the exception of nuva ring all the other methods greatly disappointed me. The nuva ring was the only method that did not cause me to gain weight, and also had no side effects. Just a thought...

Best wishes!

I'd get rid of the implant, no doubt.

i'd never even heard of the nuvaring until last night when i logged on here but i don't think i could trust it to stay in after i read up about it and the fact that my body literally pushed out the coil- the coil is inserted into the womb, so if my body can get rid of that i'm sure it could get rid of the ring, perhaps thats why the docs didn't suggest it? they weren't sure my body would deal with the implant because it had the same hormones as the injection and i had a bad go with that too and i think that the patch has the same stuff. the only thing i didn't have major issues with was the pill but i did get pregnant on it and had my son. My question is should i give the pill on top of the implant a chance and hope my hormones get under control or just have the implant out? the amount of times i've envisioned myself literally cutting my arm and yanking it out myself is crazy.

I would think if your doctors are recommending you try it than maybe give it a chance and if you dont see it helping you out then maybe just take out the implant all together. And as far as the nuva ring falling out of you, i couldn't imagine that happening. The actual circumference of it is about 7 inches...I have a hard time taking it out once a month, who knows you might like it if you try it. Let me do some research for you as well and let you know if i find anything. :)

I have almost completly decided to get it taken out, i had the same sort of symptoms with the pill just to a lesser degree and minus the bleeding, so i am terrified that worse than the pill not controlling the mood swings etc it will make it much worse. I have celebrated my decision by buying 50 condoms as part of my valentines gift to my partner, a 'here's to hopefully getting my sex drive back' kind of symbolism, lol I know i probably won't have it out by valentines because i have yet to book the appointment and my doctors surgery is very busy lately and i know these condoms will last a long time but i am feeling good about my decision. My kids need their mum back, not this monster who wants them out of the way most of the time since having the implant. Aside from the mood swings and all the other symptoms i have already said i have now come to realise that its also caused me sinusitis and that is making me feel even more low. Since making my decision to have it removed earlier on i already feel lighter and happier and i can't wait.
