Missed Pills and Spotting

I've been on birth control for a month and a half and been sexually active for about 3 or 4 weeks. I missed a pill last tuesday but kept taking the pills the next days. I had sex on that friday and we stopped before he ejaculated. That same night I got my period and it has lasted until today basically although I still have some spotting. I'm not supposed to get my period until next wednesday or thursday when I start the white pills. Is there something wrong?

i think this is typical of missing pills and/or taking double doses

spotting is a common side effect of taking the pill
