Morning after pill 1 hour after sex

Here is the situation.

The girl was not on the pill, and the condom broke while we were having sex.

I did not know until after when I pulled out and the condom was ripped.

She went to get the morning after pill, within 1 hour.   She had her period about 2 weeks ago.

I am not sure what to think.    Obviously, the sooner you take the pill the better.

Any thoughts?

We did not have sex again.  I did finger her maybe 24 hours later the next day, and she did *** she said.

Would this effect anything?

Hi there

Its great that you care so much about your girlfriend and glad that the bleeding has stopped . Hopefully she will be all back to normal soon.
Is she going to speak to the doctor about going on the pill while she is there??

I doubt its anything serious lol but best to get these things checked out anyway.

Just wanted to say thanks for the responses.

Yeah, the thing is that we live 5 hours away from each other.

Its been tough, she has not been feeling well for a while.

Hopefully she gets better and its nothing serious.

Like, she said the bleeding stopped.  But she has been having pains for the whole week.  Its been about 18 days since she took the morning after pill.

Hi there

I am sorry to hear your girlfriend is in a lot of pain still she may have developed a cyst on her ovary it could be endometriosis. There are several other things it could be but mention the pills she took recentlyas it may help. It may take a while to determine the cause of the pain but at the very least they should be able to give her some strong painkillers whilst checking .

She may have to go to hospital for an ultrasound scan and have some blood tests done . Whatever you do don't let them fob you off go with her for support and insist on a referral to the hospital .
Good luck

Not sure.  She just said she has been sick all weekend.

And, she said she has been having a lot of abdominal pain, plus bleeding a lot.

She said that if it does not stop soon, she has a doctors apt booked for this week.

It could be because she took 2 morning after pills within 3 days.

the bleeding could be a period as the morning after pill can affect your dates and you don't always have your period at the normal times straight after taking it. Does she normally have abdominal pain with her periods??

She said she has been sick all weekend with abdominal pain, and she is still bleeding, which has been happening for the last 2 days.

She is going to get an DR. Apt if it continues.

Any thoughts?

It is normal to have cramping/pain from taking the morning after pill. It is also normal to get many other negative side effects, such as nausea, headaches, mood swings, bleeding, dizziness, upset stomach, etc. The morning after pill is not meant to be used more than twice(2 times) in a whole year, as it is only meant for emergencies and is a very large dose of hormones, which does effect her body. Use this as a learning lesson to be much more careful in the future. Ask her to get on some form of birth control and look for condoms that will work better for you, so that you won't have any more mishaps.

She did get some bleeding today, but she said she is in a lot of pain.

I read that it is normal to bleed, after you take the morning pill.

Is it normal to get pains?

hi there
By worse do you mean more likely to become pregnant??

If a woman has an orgasm just before or not long after her partner ejaculates then she will retain more of the sperm. Whether this makes her chances of becoming pregnant greater is debateable.

You have no need to worry though and you should sleep well knowing you have done everythnig you should. Please let us know when your girlfriend gets her period . Hope you buy some stronger condoms in future or use the pill method instead so you don't have all this worry again in the future .

Thanks for the response.

I did finger her 24 hours after, but I did not have sex with her.

Does it make it worse if she has an orgasm?

Hi there
well better to be safe than sorry is the old saying .
Hopefully she didn't feel quite so ill this time around.
After this scare your girlfriend may decide to go on the contraceptive  pill if you are in a serious relationship. It will make the sex more spontaneous and the sensations are a lot nicer without the condoms. It will also make her periods lighter (this would help if they were heavy before).
Whatever you decide to do in the future I am sure you will think about it all very carefully .

She got dizzy, stomach ache, and just did not feel well.  She did not throw up though.  But definitely effected her, and she did not feel the greatest.

She was not physically sick.  Like we hung out the whole weekend, she just did not feel that great.  She took the Plan B morning after pill.

She asked a Pharmacist, and they stated that since she took it so early, that she did not have to take another morning after pill.

And, they also stated that she would feel like **** after taking the pill.

She took both pills at the same time, when she took it.

Hello there
I am very sorry to here your girlfriend was sick after taking the morning after pill.    If she was sick within two hours of taking the pill then her body would not have been able to absorb it and it will not have worked and therefore she will need to take another one now!!! The newest type of pill can be taken up to 5 days after sex but the sooner the better really.

The sperm can take anything from a few hours to a week to fertilise the egg. The egg can only survive 24hrs in the falopian tube though so as it is mid cycle now the egg has probably already been released and could possibly be fertilised by now (in theory) .

Don't worry though as it takes another 7 to 10 days for the fertilised egg to emplant into the uterus (womb) after that.
If she takes the morning after pill it is probably too late now for the first part of it to work (stopping the egg being released) but the second more crucial part of changing the lining of the womb so that the fertilised egg cannot implant in the uterus , you will still have time for this.  (untill the egg inplants in the uterus( womb ) your girlfriend is not pregnant.
So please get her to take another pill as soon as possible if she was sick within two hours the first time and hopefully she will manage to keep it down this time.
Good luck with this and please let us know how she gets on I am keeping my fingers crossed it will work for you this time.

Thanks, for the response.

It happened on Friday in the morning.

It states that it is normal to get sick from taking the morning after pill

She did get a bit sick after taking the morning after pill.

She felt dizzy and nauseated and sick to her stomach a bit.

It was off and on, and I can definitely tell it effected her emotionally, and she was up and down.

She did take the morning pill right after, in an hour after the situation occurred.

How long does it take for a person to get pregnant?

Also, how long does it take for the pill to come in effect?

It sounds like you are pretty safe to me . The sooner you take the morning after pill the better and I hour is pretty damn quick!
You say she had her period two weeks ago . I am assuming the sex and broken condom thing has literally just happened then as you didn't say the date in your question??
If so you are worried as it broke during what probably was her ovulation days (mid cycle ) which was pretty unlucky for you . I really don't think you should be at all worried you did the correct thing and all should be well as long as your girlfriend didn't get sick or have diarrhoea in the few hours following her taking the tablet.
Hopefully she will get her period in two weeks time (unless she is very worried in which case it might be delayed a few days)
Please can you post on here with the outcome as it will help put other peoples minds at rest in the same situation as yourselves
Thanks and try not to worry it will be fine.
