Nuvaring - Possible Side Effects...

I just decided to get on birth control & my Dr. has put me on Nuvaring.  I was using condoms before & just got tired of them.  I have now been using Nuvaring for a little over a week now, & am currently not taking any other drugs (just on the ring).  Everything has been fine until today... I am now experiencing chest pain.  I do not have a family history of any blood clotting issues, but I am concerned because I have read some of the horror stories on-line.   I have been experiencing pain to the left side of my chest that seems to penetrate through my back.  The pain is not real severe, but I know that it is there.  I do not seem to have any trouble breathing, & it doesn't hurt to breathe.  Could a person have such serious side effects in just a weeks time?  Could this be something else going on?  How do I tell?  If I need to discontinue the ring, then what are my options?  I chose the ring because of the convenience & low hormones, but if I am already experiencing side effects what do I try next?  I am only 33, & wanted to wait before I do the whole IUD thing.  Please help...

I just looked up Nuvaring and it looks like chest pain and numbness on one side of the body are side effects.

I don't know if you would typically experience these symptoms so quickly though.
