Ortho-tricylen side effects and finding a new pill

Hi, I have been taking ortho-tricyclen lo for 4+ years and originally loved the pill because I had previously been on loestrin ( a lower dose pill that caused spotting). However, over the past few years I believe that ortho-tricylen has caused me to gain weight and feel extra anxious. My pill pack is ending this sunday and I was toying with the idea of stopping my birth control all together to see if the symptoms were indeed from ortho-tricylen. My ideal solution would be to find a pill with lower symptoms but this has stumped my gynecologist and primary physician, as a lower dose pill seems to cause spotting for me. Thank you
