My answer to that is an absolute YES. FYI I'm a parent of a 17 year old girl and a 15 year old boy.

I say yes because of a situation that happened to a friend of my daughters.  She and her boyfriend decided they were ready to start having sex but didn't want their parents to know. So, he took her to Planned Parenthood where they gave her the Depo Provera shots.  A few months later she began getting pretty sick. Her mom took her to the doc and they ran some blood tests and found out that her thyroid was extremely messed up.  At that point she didn't tell her mom or the doctor that she was on the birth control. She got much sicker.  Turns out the Depo shot she was taking was messing up her thyroid hormones.  She finally ended up telling her mom and the doc and she's fine now but will be on thyroid meds for the rest of her life.  Lesson learned......tell your parents!
