Im on yasmin OC pills and here's the story..

- last period Oct. 15 - 20
- stopped my Nov. period by skipping the sugar pills.. also had protected sex with condom the same week.
- 3 weeks later the spotting came and sometimes only appears when i wipe. what got me worried was i thought it was my normal period but then it shouldnt happen while on the last week of active pills.. stupidly i also missed the sugar pills again and went onto the next packet..
- I didnt end up getting my december period which was meant to start Dec. 10. BUT the spotting lasted for 2 weeks from yesterday and im still on alert in case it happen anytime now again.
- took a pregnancy test today, results came negative..

Im just worried of being pregnant because im not ready for a baby yet im still a year from graduating school

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello and hope you are doing well.
Breakthrough bleeding is very common within the first few months after starting OC pills and it usually decreases within three months of pill use. Are you taking the pills regularly and on the same time every day? Missing one pill or taking it late may affect the integrity of the uterine or endometrial lining resulting in shedding of uterine lining seen as spotting. If bleeding is persistent you may need evaluation in  form of a blood count to see if you are anemic due to bleeding, thyroid tests or a blood test for clotting abnormalities. In few cases an ultrasound to check for internal polyps, fibroids or ovarian masses may be done. I do hope it helps. Do keep me posted.
Best luck and regards!
