Safe to take YAZ pill without prescription?

Hello, I am a healthy, sexually-active, 20 year old woman who has had absolutely no past health issues (at least, none of those listed in the risk factors of the bcp in which I am interested) and have never been on any sort of contraceptive pill before in my life.

I've looked into the YAZ pill a lot, and have found some negative side effects as well as information which encourages me to try the pill.

Here's the thing -- my room mate's mother works at a clinic in her hometown at which they hand out month-at-a-time samples to their patients; due to this, my room mate happened to be in stock of several months of the pill and gave me 7 months worth so that I could try the pill unofficially without having to set up a medical appointment.

I am fairly confident that I won't have any majorly bad side effects from these pills -- and if I do, I will promptly stop taking them -- but am worried that taking these pills without having a doctor's consent will cause me legal/medical trouble in the future if I happen to get myself checked out for any impending problems from the pill. I imagine the setting of going to a doctor for help in the case that I need it, explaining to them that I've taken the YAZ pill without a prescription, and being denied help or getting my room mate's mother in trouble.

Any thoughts?

Hi if you are healthy then it is entierly up to you. over here in england we try to discourage patients from taking other peoples meds thats been prescribed for them but when it comes to contraception it is the patients choice and not the doctors, unless that patient has a medical condition which could cause problems with that contraceptive.

theres loads of info online which explains those people who are not suitable for the pill etc.

at the end of the day, as long as you understand the possible side effects, how to take them and who shouldnt take them, then i can't see why not.

besides, any healthcare professional should be happy that you are taking charge of your sexual health and protecting yourself against pregnancy. sorry, ive just finished my project on sexual health!
hope thats of some help!
