Stopped taking pills

Hi. I stopped taking pills about a month ago because I became really overweight. I just couldnt handle it and since I never took care of my weight since I have always been very skinny, I didnt realise my weight increased a lot, from 45 kilos to 63. My boyfriend and I are really worried about the birth control, we are like, very paranoic. So my question is what non-hormonal methods can I use for birth control? He always wears condoms, always, but we still want a bit more of protection since Im not taking pills or any kind of hormonal methods. Any help? :(

Hello,
Other than copper T which your friend had mentioned, rest are hormonal. Copper T is made up of copper and releases small amount of copper into the uterus, which prevents the sperm from reaching and fertilizing the egg. If by any chance pregnancy occurs, it will prevent the fertilized egg to implant in the endometrial lining of uterus.

And about the intrauterine implants, are they hormonal? How long do they last?
And by the way, my bf always uses condoms. We just want to mix some methods because its more safe for us since we do NOT want to conceive. We are still young, I am 20 and he is 25. Our relationship is serious but we dont want kids at the moment.

Hi. Yes, it did help. I was wondering about the non hormonals. Are they good? A friend told me that she has a non.hormonal method called T something... But she said that her doctor recommended it because she had a kid before and that they dont usually recommend this for women that havent been moms before. The problem with the hormonal methods I have used is that they all have made me gain lots of weight, I cant find any balance or any method that helps me keep the same weight. I have used Yasminiq pill which made me gain 37 pounds (not even joking) in 8 months...and then I used Belarina and I gained 7 pounds. So, weight was 144 pounds and before taking any type of pill my weight was 100. Now it has been a month since I stopped taking pills and I weight 124 pounds. I am really really afraid to gain more weight... In the time that I was taking pills I just couldnt handle it even though I exercised and had a strict diet, weight just increased like crazy :(

And hmmm I have a few questions about the methods you mentioned... What are the pros and cons of the Nuva Ring? I heard it is also hormonal but, are they going to make me gain weight like thepill

Hello,
Condoms are one of the best options for birth control because not only they protect you from unwanted pregnancy but from STD’s as well. However you can opt for other forms of birth control like intrauterine implants, birth control patches (hormonal) or Nuva ring.
