Stopping birth control pill

I've been on the pill for 10 years. I started taking it when I was 17 and experiencing very heavy periods and terrible cramps. Over the years I've continued to take it mainly for that reason, and as a back up birth control. I've decided I want to see how my body does off of the pill. Not trying to get pregnant, I'm just afraid of being on it for too long and having complications in the future.

Has anyone gone off the pill after being on it for a long time? Every body is different, how did yours react? Should I be expecting he worst? Thanks in advance!
