When to start taking Birth Control

My doctor put me on Alesse Birth Control Pills.  She said to start taking pills after my period not the Sunday as it says in the instructions and told me they are affective right away.  I been reading online some people say takes 3 months, some say 1 month, i believe it says 7 days on instructions.

So, she told me if my period stops on wednesday start taking the first pill and continue on.  Is this ok?

When will the pill start working and when can i have unprotected sex?  I would like to start taking the pill at lunch hour much easier would it have to be exact time everyday ( can it be hour later from previous day)

I am new to the pill.

Thank you.

I seen you posted about a month ago, so you might have figured it out already.
I'm not a dr. But I was on the pill for about 11 yrs.  I was told it takes a month before it starts working.  I would recommend taking it at the same time everyday, atleast within 20 minutes, I don't know if an hour later or earlier would make a differnce, but if you don't want to get pregnent, is that a chance you want to take? Lol. I took it at the same time everyday, and never had a pregnancy scare.  I started mine on a wed. And I always got my period on a
Saturday , it even shortened my period to 3-4 days and helped with cramps.  Also, if you r going on vacation or something, and don't want to get your period, you can keep taking them when you r suppost to stop taking them for the 7 days when you get your period, you just start the new pack right away and you don't get your period that month.  Doctors have told me this is fine to do, and that you might spot, but I never did.
Hope this helped
