As someone already answered, some women have no bleeding while others unfortunately end up having bleeding often while on the depo shot. There's no way to know how long it's going to last for you because everyone's experience is different. This is the reason why I personally would never use depo, because once you get the shot, if you start bleeding non stop (as some women do), there's nothing you can do except ride it out and wait until your next shot is due to try something else.

I think you need to call your doctor back and tell her you've been bleeding for the last month. That's what I would do. I'm sure she will tell you the same thing that some women just bleed while on depo and there's no way to know for how long it will last because everyone is different.

Any type of birth control has that listed as a side effect. It's called spotting or breakthrough bleeding. It can happen anytime to anyone on any birth control. It can happen suddenly after no previous problems or it can happen a lot all the time to some women. The point is, it's the top most common side effect of every hormonal birth control method so sooner or later every woman who is using one of those methods will eventually experience that as a side effect.

It doesn't mean it's not working for its intended purpose of pregnancy protection. It's just a side effect which can be found in the prescribing information for the drug. It's no different than how Benedryl causes sleepiness or Allegra causes dry mouth. Hormonal birth control causes breakthrough bleeding. There's no mystery or concern about it.

Things like body fat percentage being too high or too low.  It can have an effect if that has changed in any way.

Welcome to the joys of the shot.  Many, many women have constant bleeding while on it or other side effects.  Unfortunately, you can't really do much until the next shot is due.  At that point, you can discuss alternatives to the shot with your doctor.
