alternative to birth control for hair loss

I took birth control for about 8 years.  I decided to stop, just for the hell of it (I originally went on birth control to get my period back because it had stopped once I went to college and played soccer in college and was exercising more than I ever had)  So after I stopped, about 3 months after, my hair had started falling out at crazy amounts.  I would say I lost like 40% of my hair.  All hormone levels were normal, thyroid normal, etc.  So the gyno thinks it was bc I stopped the BC, and I agree bc I hadn't done anything different in those 3 months, no added stress, etc.  So, I went back on BC and the hair stopped falling out.  And I have been for the last 3 years, but I am thinking future and I would like to have kids eventually and well I know this isn't very likely while im on BC, but at the same time I don't want a repeat of the hair thing, so my question is; are there any known medications out there that could act as an alternative to birth control when used to treat hair loss?  And I am not referring to rogaine or propecia or anything like that.  A pill that mimics what the estrogen in the Yasmin does to prevent my hair from falling out?

Thanks for the response!  Oh yes, I have scene a gyno, an endocrinologist, a dermatologist, etc for this.  It was confirmed that the reason the hair started falling out was the change in my hormone levels from stopping the pill.  The endocrinologist prescribed a high estrogen pill such as yasmin which I have now been taking for 3 years.  So my question now is, when I want to go off the pill so that I can get pregnant when I'm ready, is there an alternative pill to birth control that will combat the hair loss.  It is the yasmin birth control that is stopping my hair from falling out and helped regrow hair.  So I was wondering if there is medication that contains whichever ingredients are contained in birth control that has aided in my hair regrowth that I could take so that I can go off the pill when I'm ready to get pregnant and not have my hair fall out again.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there,
It may be difficult for me to confirm the exact treatment of your condition without a complete medical evaluation. It is best to discuss your concerns with a dermatologist. It has been seen that women who have hair loss caused by stopping the pill may benefit from a low androgen index birth control pill like Orthtricyclen. It is best to clarify your concerns with a gynecologist and dermatologist. Only after knowing your complete medical history a suitable pill can be suggested. I sincerely hope it helps.
Best wishes and regards!
