birth control??

My doctor recommended me getting the arm implant. Anyone know anything about it? And any pros or cons would be great.

I have the mirena IUD and I have no problems. I think it's great. I have no experience with the arm implant but from what I've read, the reviews are similar to those with the mirena. Some people love it and some people hate it. There's no way to know how it will work for you until you try it. But I can tell you that in my research I discovered that a very large majority of the women who reported problems with mirena got it soon after giving birth and therefore their problems were related to the hormonal issues and physical problems that go along with having their bodies still in that readjustment period from pregnancy. Whereas the majority of non pregnant women who got mirena reported far fewer to no problems with mirena. I think that's something to keep in mind when researching options.

Ive heard a lot of bad things about the vaginal but I haven't really heard anything about the arm. I went ahead and made an appointment to get the arm implant next week so hopefully it will do good for me

I had the implanon before I got pregnant. I loved it. I have had the pill and the depo. The implant was much easier on my body. The deposit was by far the worst for me. while on the depo I gained nearly 50 pounds in two months and was so emotional constantly. Once I switched to the implanon I actually lost some of the weight I put on with depo. Its a no maintenance birth control which works best for me. Hope this helps

Im in that situation now.im breastfeeding and I told them I didn't want the pill because I wont be able to take it the same time every day and they dont want me on the depo because i have just been diagnosed with post partum depression. But they also had one more that can be inserted in the vagina but ive had two family members that have had problems from it and also one of my friends so I dont like that idea too much.

I had it and loved it. After I had my son 3 years, ago I only had three options for bc as I was breastfeeding. Pill which made me throw up. Depo which I won't even consider and the implanon. I chose the implanon. It made me rather hormonal for a couple months until everything adjusted but I've always had hormonal issues with any bc lol and in general plus I was suffering from post partum blues so i had a lot of help in that so don't let that discourage you after about 6 weeks on it I actually was really good on it and didn't have any problems. It made my period lighter some months lol I have very heavy periods though so I lined that but that aspect varies person to b person as does any bc. It was a very simplein office procedure only part that hurt was the lidocaine shot to numb the area lol. But it goes numb so quick it barely matters. It is good for up to 3 years after  which it can be removed or ( anytime prior should you not like it or want to become pregnant again) or you can just have a new one put right in in place of the old one. I had mine just about 2 years got it out in Jan 2014 and we were pregnant in March already lol. We never used any other form of bc the whole two years I was on it. I would getvit again this time but my husband decided to get a vasectomy so I don't have to be on bc for rest of my life at 25 lol good luck hope this helps :-)
