chances of getting pregnant

We had unprotected sex on the 7th day of my menstrual cycle. Although my husband pulled out in time but  he thinks that he might have been about a second late in doing so. what are the chances of my getting pregnant. I have a 28 day cycle and my periods last for about 5 days.

One thing for sure at that time of the month there is no plug on the cervix... the mucus there will allow sperm to pass and get into the uterus.

it really depends on when  you ovulate in your cycle and if your cycle really is consistent.  That's why it's suggested when using the calender or  rhythm method it's important to monitor their cycle for several months before trusting it as a more effective method of birth control.  That might involve determining the mucus in different days of the cycle since 2 days after the  cycle the mucus gets thicker and thus blocks out any sperm.  The other thing that's important to do when considering the rhythm method is determining your body temperature on various days of your cycle and recording it.  Through all of this, and if you have a consistent sleep pattern, don't drink in excess, and are generally healthy, should all be enough to prevent pregnancy.

The average typical cycle for a woman is 28 days and so is your cycle.  The only difference in your cycle and the average cycle is that the average cycle has a menstruation of on average 4 days whereas your menstruation is 5 days.  Ovulation is usually always half the length of the cycle... so for example usually day 16 for a 32 day cycle and day 14 for a 28 day cycle.  My educated guess in your ovulation is most likely the 14th day, or possibly the 15th day since you have an extra day in your menstruation.

Add to that the life of a sperm will be on average 3  days for a healthy sperm in the right environment inside a uterus to a maximum of 5 days for a super sperm.

My educated prediction is that it is unlikely you will get pregnant.  Probably about 97% chance that you won't even if his full ejaculation was inside you.  (Just making up a number but still)...

If you have consistent periods of 28 days then that shows that you are healthy and your body has the right rhythm for the rhythm method.

Keep us posted on if you get pregnant or not!   It is most likely not but would definitely be a little miracle if you did!

Well you could get pregnant at anytime and the fact that he thinks he might have gotten some sperm inside you means he did. So in this situation only time will tell but I don't think it's likey but it could happen. Best Wishes BB

It's unlikely... If your period lasts 5 days, and you had 2 days after your period (right you said on the 7th day)... you are likely not ovulating until about the 14th day.  Sperm can only live maximum of 5 days. and on average only about 3 days 7th day + 5 days maximum sperm lifespan= 12th day.

It's highly unlikely you will get pregnant.
