contraceptives to skip period

I started taking YAZ 5 1/2 weeks ago and was told by my doctor that I could not take the placebo pills and continue through with the regular pills so that I could skip my period that was scheduled to happen while on vacation.  I am scheduled for my vacation in 8 days and yesterday started my period even though I am taking the pills with no missed dose and no white ones.  Its more than spotting, more like a somewhat light period.  My question is this: should I stop taking the pills altogether and assume this is my period and will end in 5 days? Or do I continue taking the pills and hope I dont continue to bleed?  I have a difficult time connecting with my doctor and her message to me was that she could prescribe a higher dose.  I left another message with her office but want a 2nd opinion....

Oh! And I would continue taking the pills the way you planned, because stopping indicates to your body o go ahead and shed that lining and menstrate

I remember when I first started the pill, it took a couple months for my menstrual cycle to really be controlled by the series of pills. I have thought about, but never personally taken my pills through to avoid a period but I do have girlfriends who have- i would consider that your period, and not be freaked out if it doesn't fully trick your mother natures monthly gift to not show up a little with spotting or something since you haven't been taking them for a few cycles yet. Best of luck though and I hope you have a wonderful vacation!!!!!!
