longterm effects of Filshie Clips

I am a 34 year old woman who gave birth to two sets of twins 18 months apart via C-section.  I consider myself to be overall healthy and not overweight. I had the last set of twins in 1998. During the last C-section in 1998, I had gotten my tubes tied, cut, and clipped. It has now been 13 years and i can still feel the clips in me. I have a brief sharp pain every time i cough, sneeze, and sudden movements. I have had continuous tendrness in that general area on both sides of my tubes.  I actually believe that the clip causes swelling at times and not even when i am on my menstrual cycle. I don't know what to do about the problem. i can't help to wonder as my body ages will it get worse. I also wonder if I am the only woman to experience this longterm problem and why should i have to continue to live with this pain. Would love to hear from other women with the same experience and any solutions.

Your not the only woman experiencing this problem sweetheart. You are not alone. I had my tube tied after my 4th child in 2007. I became pregnant 5 months later. My pelvic bone broke doing my pregnancy. I could hardly walk. After a few years I became pregnant again and had a baby in 2011. I have been worried about my body every since I got my tubes tied. I have so much pain in my ovaries, heavy bleeding, blood clots, tenderness to my belly button...I did not know the doctors experimented on me with filishie clips until a doctor told me about 4 -5 years ago.

Please re-think your decision on (any) tubal ligation, I had my T.L. done when I was 23yrs. old after giving birth to my 3rd child. I wanted to get my tubes tied because at that time I was for sure that I did not want anymore childern. However... Being that I was young, and I did not do my reserch on what type of T.L. I wanted. Nor was I even giving that option. I just recently found out that I got Filshie clips on my tubes, but before I even did my reserch on wat type of sterilization I have. For years I was experiencing pain at least twice a month before and after my period. I was getting my annual check up's and all my tests would come back normal. So I noticed that I haven't had this problem until I got my tubes tied. So to make a long story short... I did my reserch and found out that women that had the filshie clips has experienced that same pain. I was not informed about the what type of sterile technique was being used. Nor was I informed about the side effects of this sterile procedure. So I'm looking into getting a reversal and trying out a different BC method, and as you know tubal reversal is highly exspensive ($5400-$8000). If there's anyone out there thinking about getting a BC method please make sure you do your reserch on the type of sterilization you want. I DO NOT RECOMMEND FILSHIE CLIPPS, RINGS, CLIPPED, TIED OR BURNT. Your better off getting on BC pill's, depo, or IUD, becaus you can change you BC method if your not happy with the side effects of whatever method you decide. Plus your insurace "should" cover it. However with T.L. if you decide that you want to concieve you will have to pay out of pocket to have the reversal done. So please re-think any T.L. procedure.

I'm curious too..i had my daughter 3 yrs ago and wasn't sure if i wanted more..i've tried birth control before and it makes me very depressed. I talked to my dr. about getting the clips in because my step mom got them in after my younger brother was born in 04. I got mine done in 08. I'm 24 now, and was told that if i wanted another baby to come to my dr  schedule surgery get them off and i'll b ok. that they only cause minimal damage.well i've been having issues with my period. I was a week late in jan. then after that i started having left hip pain really bad. Got an ultra sound a couple weeks ago and was told everything was ok...they gave me motrin. I was told to take it the day before my period, 1 and 2 day of my period and that was it. 1 pill every 8 hrs. Well i was 2 days late, i'm usually about a day late anyway, so i took the pill on aug. 25,26 and 27th.I finally started on aug. 31st and after that its been more like spotting.. i didnt even need a pad after the 31st just a panty liner...i've also been feeling sick it comes and goes through out the day...my husband and mom think i might be pregnant but i'm not sure...is it possible?

I'm not really sure that it is the clips you are feeling.  It would more likely be from scar tissue adhesions.  Talk to your OBGYN and get their opinion.
