need advice

hi wonder if anyone can help ? i started the birth control pill about four months ago i get a lot of symptoms of pms so thought the pill would help which it hasnt at mo just made my periods ligter and more regular .2 weeks ago i was due to stop taking the pill like normal and then have my period but as i was going away that weekend decided to start new pack straight away as been told and read u can do this now and then , ever since then i keep spotting on and off and feel like im due to start every other min !and today ive come on virtually properly and i still have 6 pills to finish ,does anyone no wots going on are the pills not strong enough and am i still protected ? thanks
