period started in week 3

Hello

This is my 1month and  3rd week of taking contraceptive pills
Due to some bacteria I've caught in the middle, I had to take some antibiotics for a week until seven days ago.
And today my period started.
I think this is due to the side effect of taking the antibiotics  - it reduces the effect of birth control pills.
I've been taking the pills exactly on time every single day.

Should I abandon the birth control pills I've been taking for 3 weeks for this months and start a new pack from today?

The nurse at the doctor's office told me I should finish the current pack and then start the new pack.
Is she right?

The name of the pill is "Tri-Sprintec"

Never stop taking your birth control pills just because you are taking antibiotics.  Every time you stop and restart it throws your body off and messes with your hormone levels and will take that much longer to normalize.  The antibiotics wouldn't make your period start sooner, it is just due to the fact you have just started taking the birth control hormones, it will regulate in a few cycles.
