What do you mean a higher dose? What were you on before? It is normal to spot when you have a change in pills or stopped them and started again after a few months. As long as your spotting doesn't last more then a couple of days, you should be fine. Your body has to re-adjust it's self to a new brand of pills. If bleeding last's longer or you have really bad pain or excessive bleeding contact your doctor.

I was on Ortho Tri-cyclen before and now my dr. has put me on Necon.  I was having pain in the left ovary area and she said that i could just "feel myself ovulating" and that she would up my perscription and put me on the Necon.  I only spotted for like a half a day when it was time for my period.  My family has a history of ovarian cysts and that is what I was concerned about with the pain, because it lasts for 2-3 weeks out of the month.  I'm hoping this new pill will help, even though I have not heard good things about it so far.
