skipping and spotting... SCARED!!

I was told by my family doctor to skip my period for 3-4 months because I have BP and the mood swings are so TERRIBLE that I thought I also had PMDD. Now I'm not sure because since I stopped my periods my mood swings seem to have gotten worse :(  any ways... so I skipped last month (1st month) and this month I'm due next week.

So here's my problem: yesterday we had sex and I kinda bled (NEVER happened before). It wasn't even so much a spot as it was "runny" ... hard to explain.

Is it normal to spot or have runny blood if you skip periods? I'm on Avian (Alesse). Also, could my Lithium be causing any problems? I read here bc and Lithium shouldn't be combined, but my pdoc says it's fine. I'm extremely worried because I had a pap biopsy done last month and they said it doesn't look good.

I'm just so scared and don't trust my health providers. I don't know what to do.

To explain myself further, which I should've done in the first place (sorry)...

1. BP is Bipolar; 2. I'm on Alesse = birth control; 3. I skipped my period by not taking the placebo pills and starting a new pack right away; 4. last month was my FIRST "skip"... next week is my second skip, then I have to skip next month (and maybe the month after that)

I had the pap biopsy done Feb 9th and they said 4-6 weeks for the results, so I'm calling them on Monday (I guess Tuesday, forgot about the Holiday)... although my neighbour said not to worry because they haven't called me yet, but issues run in my family AND I hadn't had a regular pap done in like 4-5yrs (& I'm a worry-wart).

Last but not least, it wasn't so much a spot as it was runny right after sex (and then it hurt to pee)... there wasn't any blood after that

But you're right College Girl. I forgot about that... "the lining in your uterus is old and trying to clear out." Thanks for relieving my fears  : )

I dont exactly understand what your saying? what is BP and how did you skip your period. If you were told to skip 3-4 months..why did u only skip one. Anywhoo...yes its normal to spot if you have missed periods because the lining in your uterus is old and trying to clear out. But if you had a pap that doesnt look good only good knows what the real problem is. Why dont you ask what is going on with the pap bc you might have HPV or the start of cervical cancer and that could be damaged abnormal cells causing the bleeding.

If the pap is fine...the bleeding is fine. more importantly you need to check the pap results and follow what your doctor says. 3-4 months is way diff than 1 month
