skyla IUD and brown discharge

Hello,

I've had skyla for about three years now. Needing to change it in November.

I have been having brown/red discharge lately and it's rather annoying.  I don't remember having this before in the beginning.  I went a few months without a period. Then finally got it and it lasted two weeks.

I know spotting is common with IUD, but I'm scared that since I'm three years in, that this isn't normal.  Here is no odor. No pain. No other symptoms. Except irritability and anxiety.  I'm about over a week away from my next period.

I'm scared about this because I keep reading about PID and STIs.  I have a boyfriend now, but before I went through a tough time and did have unprotected sex with more than one person.  If I'm just experiencing discharge, not heavy but enough to be annoying- how likely could this be a STI. I'm so scared. And my insurance doesn't kick in until September. I'm freaking out.   After sex , once in a while there will be dark dark blood on my boyfriend.  Help.
