Blood Clot in Leg???

Hello,

Thank you so much for your help in advance, it means a lot to me, because I cannot afford health insurance right now.

For the past 2 years, I have been suffering from discomfort in my right leg. I am 25 year old male, in general good health. No blood disorders in the past. I have used drugs recreation-ally, drank alcohol, smoked on and off for 6 years and have mild anxiety. I also shake my right leg a lot, but I never had this discomfort up until last 2 years.

I do have good blood work always, no high blood pressure etc.

My job consists of sitting all day in office chair (I am self employed but barely surviving). A little bit higher than my right knee, where the chair padding ends, there is a spot, that always hurt. Especially if I am moving. The pain never goes away, it is with me 24/7, nothing makes it better. I can rate it on a scale from 1-10, it would be a 3-4, but it never fades and I am not sure what it is. There is no swelling from what I can feel/see. My hair growth in that area is good.

About a year ago, when I had health insurance, I showed it to my doctor and he shrugged it off with "oh no swelling no pain while walking...no worries" no blood clot.

How can I make sure it isn't a blood clot for free??? I am very worried that it can travel and I can die.

Please help me.

Hi Dr. Sharma,

I understand.

Just today, something very strange happened. Every time I sit in a chair, my right leg, in the region where it usually is bothersome, I get a pulsating feeling. No pain, no swelling, no discoloration. It is kind of extreme, I mean I understand an occasional muscle twitch but this is like another heartbeat. Once I get up and walk around, it goes away.

Also, I am not sure if you can answer this, but if I have no health insurance, is there anywhere in Illinois I can go and get ultrasound or some tests just to have a peace of mind?

Hi there. if there is no swelling, no pain on walking, no bluish discoloration of skin, no local rise in temperature, your doctor is correct in stating, no blood clot. Ysou can confirm it with venography,  Doppler ultrasound, to investigate if this is a deep vwin clot.
Take care.

PS: I am located in Illinois, USA.

Some additional symptoms include having a buzzing/fluttering feeling in the same area sometimes. Sometimes the spot (very rarely) becomes a little cold/hot like a hot cold flash.
