High Hematocrit
Hi
I have a somehow elevated Hematocrit 52.9 (I am a heavy smoker which contribute to my hematocrit problem).
I made a blood donation last week. Usually one blood donation will drop hematocrit level by 2 units. So it will go down to 50.9. At this level it's still a bit high and a stroke danger is still ON.
I'm traveling to Africa next week for 6 months work trip and I am afraid to donate blood there. Is it safe to give another blood unit one week after the first donation so my hematocrit can drop to a safe 48.9 level?
Thx
