Hi there. Baker’s cyst is a swelling caused by fluid from the knee joint protruding to the back of the knee, and can be caused by any cause of joint swelling or arthritis. The most common types of arthritis include osteoarthritis, cartilage tears like torn meniscus, rheumatoid arthritis. You need a rheumatologist to investigate these possible conditions and autoimmune disorders. The baker’s cysts can be treated with medications, joint aspiration, cortisone injection and surgery which is mostly arthroscopically. Take care.
