Hello,
INR is a marker of liver function. It tends to get prolonged when the liver is not functioning properly. The clotting factors which are produced by the liver are primarily responsible for the clotting of blood and a normal prothrombin time.

However when the liver is diseased these clotting factors are not produced in an appropriate amount and this increases the propensity of increased risk of bleeding.

An ultrasound of the liver should be done along with other tests like hepatitis B and C to know the underlying cause producing the liver disease.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
