can you explain what benefit surgery does for recurrent puly. emboli. Someone had puly arteries OR bronchial tubes "scraped".What is the purpose of this surgery?

Hi!
Usually, surgery is not the treatment of choice in pulmonary embolism. However, in chronic cases at times the thrombus is removed (scraped) from the pulmonary artery to prevent pulmonary hypertension. Bronchial scrapings are usually done as a diagnostic procedure. Take care!
