2 questions

Kindly i want answers to these questions because i have the feeling that i belong here rather than at BP
of course i may have both but i need to know if someone who has BPD ONLY can have the following:

1. can BPD be hereditary ?
2. can someone with BPD fall into depression
3. can someone with BPD under antidepressant get manic

1.  I think that bpd is more environmental, the way you are brought up, but off-hand I can't recall how genetically based it is.  The disorder is likely more due to a persons temperament and environment.  I would have to look it up.  I think the answer is that it could run in families but I think it has less to do with genetics.  That isn't something you hear about when reading information about the disorder.

2.  Easy question.  Many people with bpd become depressed.

3.  Not sure about the meds question.  I suppose if you were allergic to it.  I honestly don't know.  I felt manic on anti-anxiety meds and I don't have bipolar.

1. no one is sure where bpd comes from - most cases are environmental, but that's doubtful for someone like me. i think my granny might have it too, she's always acting weird like me.

3. i get manic. when i first described my wild mood swings the dr's diagnosed me with bpd - the difference from bipolar is someone with bpd might go through manic and depressive shifts rapidly, in a few hours even, while bipolar episodes are longer. that's how they explained it to me anyway. i'm not on an antidepressant right now though.
