Black and White thinking and behavior (DBT helps?)

by dealingwithpains, Oct 20, 2009 07:18AM
I do a lot of things in black and white.
I either eat too much or nothing
I sleep too much or can't sleep at all
when I get into excercising, I have to do it 7 days a week. or just don't do it at all
my place is either perfectly clean or I can't even see the floor.

I am definately having borderline personality issues

I was told that DBT can help. Has anyone done this?
is this really helpful?

I really don't want to waste my time on things that won't work...any longer...

Hi,
I have been diagnosed with borderline and I am on a waiting list for a DBT program. I haven't actually done it yet but I keep hearing over and over it's the only thing that can truly help. Medication can do some things, but DBT is more important. I'm sure not everyone is helped by it but I know that alot of people do change. I can relate to the not wanting to try keep wasting your time because I feel that I have been trying to help myself for years and nothing is working and I feel just as hopeless as before but I think this is something that is worth a try.
