Does DBT Work?

Recently diagnosed with co-existing BPD.  It has been recommended that I do DBT.  since regular therapy has really done nothing for me in helping me with Bipolar...I'm curious to hear folks experience/results with DBT.  Thanks.

My personal opinion is that dbt won't help your bipolar (much.  It could help you manage it better though).

I am not a huge fan of dbt.  But then perhaps it wasn't applied with the degree of intensity it was designed.  (With Individual therapy, group skills sessions and phone contact).

I couldn't utilize dbt that well as my functional deficits meant I didn't have the skills to utilize the dbt skills.  A bit like water leaking out of a holey bucket.
In therapy the goal was to repair/ fix those holes.

The skills in general though are good life skills that most people could benefit from.

dbt should help borderline personality disorder.  dbt is not generally the treatment of choice for those with bipolar.
