I have this disorder and have for quite some time.  I work for MHMR, (mental health mental retardation)  her in my town, helping others with disorders like mine to become more stable.  Anything you need to know or need help with you are more then welcome to ask I will do what I can to try to help.

That's exactly what happened to me. I was diagnosed a couple weeks ago and it has been the roughest time of my life. It feels like a sentence in a way because before when I wasn't diagnosed, there was always an excuse like "I'm just young and moody" or "I have an awful temper" or "I don't trust people." Now it's "I have BPD" and I don't have the courage to tell anybody. I can function fairly well in public, but when I get back to my apartment, the self-hatred drowns me and all I can do is cry and throw things and think about how unfair life is. If you ever want somebody to rant at, share how you feel, or anything like that. I'm in the same boat and would love to listen and share what I'm going through.

Best of luck.

also been cutting again, which, until lately I hadn't done in years. Isn't an answer supposed to help? :P But yeah, I'm here if you need me for sure.

Both of you need to know that sometimes with illnesses you give in.  Just like someone who might have cancer, when they find out that they for sure do they begin to give in to life.  You now know that you have mental illness, that doesn't mean you give in.  You fight it.  You are allowing the disorder to take over you and it can change your life for the worse.  Or you can control it (it will still be there) and choose the way you want to go.

Thank you, you are so right! This isn't like bipolar org schizophrenia, etc. this is a disorder. You can have control! Whatever it was to mold you into these bpd traits you didn't have control over, but to change toot life nowe, u do! Its all about confidence....believe in yourself love yourself
you can overcome this, anyone can. Focus! Therapy, dbt, and commitment is what it takes! Remember, ur not born with this, it's an unfortunate outcome of traumatic experiences, but we can choose to stop being a prisoner of itunlike other mental illnesses...

I disagree this is just as serious as bipolar or any other mental illness, how can it be controlled?

Its all so easy for people to dismiss it and say control it, its like telling someone with depression oh just get over it. Just my opinion.

I didn't say it wasn't serious at all. And I mentioned ways of getting help...dbt, therapy along with  medications if warranted. I am also borderline and I get uu just can't get over it, totally read my post wrong!
