How can I get someone back who has BPD?

My ex boyfriend's BPD wasn't too bad, he just had extreme bouts of anger (which were never directed at me). He felt love wasn't real although he knew he loved me. He had just been hurt so many times before. He broke up with me 3 days ago because he doesn't want to fake being normal anymore. He says he's still in love with me and cries about how he misses me when we talk. How do I go about getting him back? I love him so much and I know that it's going to be difficult. But I'm willing to go through that and hell in order to be with him. He's amazing, and this disease is ruining him.

Hello, I hope things work out between you and your boyfriend.  I would like to recommend that you do some research on line about BPD and educate yourself about it.  Unstable relationships are a huge part of the disorder.  I have been in a relationship with someone with it for a number of years and I love her dearly but you need to understand that you can't change him.  You can aid him in getting help for his condition and usually that involves some meds and counseling. If you both are willing to work on your issues, things can get better but it takes both being willing to do what it takes.  Not just you.  If he has bouts of anger it sounds like he struggles with self control.  You say this is not directed at you but I would caution you that it some day could under the wrong conditions.  We have made a lot of progress and I would say things are better in our relationship than they have been in a long time but oddly enough, my coming to terms that I may need to leave the relationship seems to have been the catylist for change.  Either way, I wish you the best and that comes from someone who can identify with the roller coaster ride these relationships can cause.
