MPD

I have a friend that says he has MPD and I saw him have an episode. He was very angry and self inflected his hand with the wall (punching it many times) and passed out and I've never seen this before but others have. Then when he woke up he didn't remember being angry or anything that happened the last 20 minutes.

Now another friend thinks he's faking because she thinks it's not possible to have MPD and not remember what he did and it was just for show that he would allow himself to make his own knuckles bleed.

I'm not sure who to believe.

What does your gut say?
It does sound as though he has psych issues, regardless of diagnosis.
People split off stuff that is too painful.  It is possible for people not to be able to recall stuff when in another state.  I'm not sure if mpd is used very often these days with people preferring to use other diagnoses such as the dissociative disorders.

You could try looking up the dsm-iv for mpd or scan through some of the dissociative disorders.

Is your friend in treatment?  If not, then he should be.
