I saw ENT today for the 1st time, 3 weeks post op. In my opinion, I think we waited too long to suction my nose (there wasn't a choice as her office was closed for xmas and new years.) She got some stuff out, but she wouldn't go after the big scabs blocking the nasal passage as was they were too dry and sucking them out would cause bleeding according to her. Sorta bummed out, I'm not more clear. She suggested the neti pot, but after one use I can tell it doesn't go very high into the sinus, plus the water went into my right ear and it hurts like crazy now :(
She doesn't want to see me for SIX WEEKS. My nose boogers might grow together by then. Saw the Endo too, he wants to wait 3 month to recheck my hormones. Seems like a long time too? Bah. I want this to be OVER!
Don't overdo! A lot of people get super duper happy at this point and go overboard at this point and you can do damage to your surgical site. You can;t see it, but you still have to be careful.
I know, post op it was like a miracle for me too. I had a borderline DI case too and was just about to have to take the meds when it quit. Yeah! I also completely lost my appetite for a while. I was just happy to not have a headache and my ears not ringing for a while.
Keep us posted. No straws! No sneezing (haha!).
Thanks Rumpled. Sorta amazed how well this surgery went and how quick the recovery can be. Had some DI trouble at the beginning, but limited fluid intake and it seems to have righted itself. I guess I will forever wonder what the second tumor was, but doc said he took em both out whole, so nothing left over inside. I see the ENT and the Endo tomorrow. I hope my hormones right themselves too. Not bone tired like I was a week ago, but I still get tired and need to nap a bit to get through the day. Hoping my GH and Estrogen kick back in, that'll probably make me have more energy.
I am glad you are now on the *far side*... As for losing a tumor, yes it is quite common sadly. Some people get negative total pathology as the thing gets sucked up and falls apart, and then they really don't know what they had and some then have issues with family friends and even doctors who then think there was nothing wrong when there is nothing further from the truth.
I have to say antibiotics may or may not work... you may need the lovely lovely debridement to get the infection out. I had an infection way way up, and had to have another surgery, then weekly scraping to keep it out. I thought I was going to die and the scabs and crud coming out were the size of my thumb - which was uber gross and quite surprising all at the same time.
After that I had to use a water pik and saline and clean my sinuses out daily. It was awful but it did work. I also had to use a lot of saline spray and steam and a humidifier. My carpet lifted. Only do any of those things if instructed. Different docs have different ideas. My ENT and surgeon came up with a plan together.
