3mm Pituitary Micro Adenoma

3mm Pituitary Micro Adenoma

I need some help/feedback on several symptoms that I'm experiencing. I am 46 year old male and have low testosterone, LH and FSH. MRI shows a 3mm pituitary tumor. My Endocrinologist says it's non-functioning and we should just watch it. I have headaches 24/7 that's sometimes minor and extremely painful sometimes. Endo is sending me to neurologist and thinks my headaches may be due to mild sleep apnea. Does this sound accurate? I'm concerned that I may need treatment for the tumor (medication or surgery to remove) instead of only watching it. I have frequent numbness in my right arm and leg. Also have a hesitation in my legs (mostly the right leg) when walking....it occurs at various times throughout the day. Doe anyone have suggestions or ideas on what I can do?

I would go to a pituitary center and get an evaluation there. Since you have hypopituitarism already - the non-functioning argument is moot, and you need to find out what type of tumor it is and how to get it treated be it meds or surgery.

A neurologist sadly does not know how to treat pituitary tumors and that endo does not either - so find another! It may be put on watch but you should get treatment in the mean time as well as regular monitoring which is not just a MRI which tells very little.

Headaches are a symptom of pituitary tumors - it is not so much the size but the symptoms. The numbness and hesitation you are having should be seen by the neurologist though - those are not a pituitary symptoms.

Sleep apnea and low T often happen with high cortisol - was that tested at all?

Thank you for your prompt response! Yes, my endo tested several hormone levels....cortisol, GH and thyroid come to mind....I'm sure there are others that were tested. I don't have the written results but today I asked her nurse to send me the results/report. She said the levels were in good shape but I hear that can mean they are high or low but still within "acceptable" levels. She also said the tumor isn't pushing up or out toward other structures. I have many other symptoms that I didn't mention earlier such as extreme fatigue,  sudden electrical shocks in my head, arm and leg that may last a second or sometimes 5-10 seconds. The hesitation in my leg when walking is not noticible to others.....but I certainly feel it starting about 3 years ago and it gradually is becoming worse. This is very disturbing and I'm concerned since symptoms of Multiple sclerosis are similar.

Fatigue is a common symptom too.
TIming of testing is crucial - so make sure you get the tests done at the proper time. One set of testing is not acceptable - they should do several sets over time.

It is good you are getting copies.

I hope you don't  have MS - I hope you get a good doc.
