After Surgery for Low Grade Glioma

My husband (29 yrs old) had a subtotal resection with the pre-diagnosis (it will be certain tomorrow once we get the pathology results) of low grade glioma in his left temporal lobe 10 days ago. He has no physical restrictions however, there is a huge decline in his intelligence along with major personality changes and verbal memory loss. It's like he has a become a totally different person, a 6 yr old stubborn boy. He has almost no short term memory, he keeps repeating the same things, can understand only short sentences and if you speak slowly and repeatedly.
He will probably have radiotherapy for the residual tumor but I am totally confused at this point. What do you recommend we should do now? Shall we start seeing a neuropsychiatrist? I am wondering if any of you or your loved ones have gone through this and if you have any idea if these changes will be permanent. I am worried that radiotherapy will worsen these symptoms but we may not have any other choice.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Was this brought to the attention of the doctor(s)? It should especially be done before the radiotherapy as there are side effects from that and he already has enough and you need to find out if these are temporary or not.

I hope someone can assist you and I would see if you can post on the monitored (doctor) part and see if they have any ideas.

Hi, thank you for your answer. Yes, I have told the surgeon about this but he said "we will have to wait and see". Right now, we are torn between going for radiotherapy and refusing it.
I wanted to post on the doctors' part but I honestly did not find out how to do so. There was no "post a question" link. I will check again.

http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Brain-Tumors/show/269 is the monitored forum.

Given the side effects of the radiation (both short and long) with what he has now, er, why add more on top of what he has unless there is something urgent with the lesion - so the doc really needs to communicate better with you. Be persistent and clear about your concerns, please, if you feel it is in his best interests.
