Brain Nacrosis

In 2004 my daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor (corrie plexus carcinoma)  which s normally founf in children, but she was diagnosed when she was already 21 years old.  She had the tumor removed and subsequently had six months of chemo therapy, gamma knife radiation and booster radiation.  In 2009 her MRI indicated another growth in the same location of her brain (right ventricle) however this time the growth was in the back of the ventricle and not in the ventricle as the tumor was.  After a second surgery done by Dr Honeycutt @ Children Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, TX) it was determined the growth was radiation narcosis.  She was released form the hospital 2 days after surgery and appears to be doing well five days after the surgery and recommendation to do MRIs every 3 months.  Given the area of narcosis had actually grown in the month form diagnoses to surgery what can we expect in the future, that the narcosis will continue to growth, and if so what is the treatment short a another surgery?

Also we took a 45 minute walk this morning, five days after surgery and she returned a bit tired by seems to be doing fine.  Is she doing tom  much considering it’s only been five days since her surgery.

Thanks for you heli in answering these question.

Patrick Trujillo

Have you contacted the doctors so they can explain the prognosis of the necrosis?

Much like the lesion, it can depend in the size and the location. Have they given her steroids to reduce inflammation or are they just watching the lesion?
