Brain Tumour removed but have weakness and twitching

I had a Craniotomy to remove a brain tumour 8 months ago, have since experienced muscle twitching (sometimes visible, sometimes not) all over, also have weakness in right arm which i am very worried about.  I had these symptoms straight after surgery but they eased off for months but recently come back again.  The tumour was slow growing, benign and removed in full. Had MRI two months ago which was still clear,  I am worried that I may have a progressive or disabling disease i,e ALS or MND. Just wondering if anyone else experienced these twitches or weakness after brain surgery. I am awaiting follow up with doctor but it could be some time. I am 43

You really need to see your surgeon or a neurologist.  it may be related to your surgery or even be a calcium, magnesium or other deficiency.

Has your pcp at least run some tests?

Also, a nerve could have been hit.

As a fellow patient this is all I can guess, so give us an update after you see someone. I hope it is something simple.

Gemsand, I participate in a support group for people with non-malignant brain tumors. For many of us, symptoms come and go even several years post-surgery, even though our MRIs indicate that all is well. It has been a relief for us to learn this ... it eases (or prevents) anxiety about symptoms.

Where in your brain was your tumor?

Hopefully you can take a lesser dose of steroids.

I hope the kipper works. That med is also not easy to take. It may help to taper up the dose.

Keep us posted on what the surgeon says.

Thanks rumpled, hope you are well.  I went to my GP again today, he is going to contact my surgeon and says I may need to start taking Keppra anti seizure meds again, I was on these along with steriods prior to surgery and hated them but i would rather take them than have a seizure i suppose.  Got MRI date for 10th Feb.

Have had bloods done and all normal.  I really hope it is something simple because otherwise i feel brilliant compared to a year ago. If it is not something that is going to progress i can cope with it, but fear the worst.
