CAT scan false +

CAT scan false +

Hi there.

I was told today that CAT scans don't bounce false + on brain tumors.  I went in for a routine CAT scan of my sinuses 16 yrs ago.  I was told I had a brain tumor and to cancel everything because I had an MRI app.   I didn't make it through the entire closed MRI test.  For some reason a brain MRI disorients me.  But they said they scanned the area of concern and didn't see anything.  I was told at the time that CAT scans have a high rate of false + results.

Fast forward to today and I had to go back for a brain MRI.  I was told that CAT scans don't bounce false +s.  Any comments?

I know they use different ways of looking, and one or the other is better for some things, and so that is why the doc will usually select one or the other as a test.

I did find some medical papers on MRIs finding false positives  read as  medulloblastomas. When treated, one really has gliosis (scar tissue) and the other was really negative. However, this was only 3 people.

I think though, any scans can have false positives.
