CSF???

Hello all, I had my 4th rcc removal 6 weeks ago...All previous surgeries went fairly well, however this time I'm not so sure. I developed terrible headache and pressure behind my eyes about 2 weeks ago off and on then consistently for 4 days which sent me to the er on Friday.  My mri they did "looked good" they said, so they told me my headaches weren't related to my recent surgery...About an hour later neuro showed up again this time with a consent form for a lumbar puncture, ok I was desperate for answers so I agreed to it. About 10 minutes or so after it was done I noticed my headache and pressure behind my eyes disappeared.  They gave me a steroid shot and sent me home.  Not too much of an understanding but could it be there was a csf  build up that was relieved with that lumbar puncture???
Did they not tell me the truth about what was going on, hmmm I wonder.
Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!!!

Wow... that is a lot of pit surgery!

Maybe you have to switch over to mountain dew!

Some of us metabolize caffeine faster so that would also be a factor. There is also a medication to try has that been done?

Thank you both Horselip and Rumpled for your feedback...I have noticed how active and informative you both are within the community,  I think thats awesome, but back to my issue yes I have had my 4th surgery and yes my surgeon was more aggressive this time around going after the wall of my Rathe's...I actually have my 6week followup appt. today to discuss my ER visit involving the lumbar puncture and details of my surgery.  Oh and yes as of today the same course of symptoms are already happening, I can feel a sense of fullness/pressure in my face moving to my head and behind my eyes... not really noticing any draining in the back of my throat tho and as for the whole caffeine fix, I am a massive Pepsi addict, its all I drink literally with the exception of a bottle of water here and for medication intake, so not sure how effective that rememdy is I think i am immune to caffeine.  Will let you guys know what my surgeon has to say. And thanks again...
Stay well all

RCC meaning Rathke's Cleft Cyst right, So you had your fourth surgery, wow! Did they finally get the remnants?

When they do a lumbar puncture Cerebral Spinal fluid is removed. This can lower your csf pressure and symptoms like high-pressure headaches improve.

It all could have been a coincidence but hmmm I suspect this is what might have happened.

If the symptoms come back than def see your neurologist as you could be dealing with a pressure issue. Intra-cranial hypertension is not that uncommon and there are meds that can be used to treat it.

I am not sure what an RCC is (I am a patient).

I know a tiny bit about CSF headaches from my pituitary friends. If you feel better laying flat, after caffeine and/or you have a clear drip going down your throat or out your nose then it is often a CSF headache.

They have meds to try, then they may have to do another surgery to find the hole.

In the mean time, try coffee or anything with caffeine and see if it works. But I would get back to your surgeon ASAP telling him about the puncture and how it helped your headaches. He should be able to get the pressure reading off the test.
