Cushings?

Cushings?

My doctor thinks I might have cushings disease. I did the 24hr cortisal suppresion test( where you take the cortisal pill at 11:00 and have blood drawn at 8:00am). My 17 OH progesterone test came back 41. I have no idea what that means, and I'm getting inpatient. My doctor appointment is on the 3rd and I cat wait that long. Does anyone have any idea what the normal range for progesterone is?

You did a dexamethasone suppression test (which for many, including me, was a very unreliable first test). It is not a test of exclusion. A progesterone test is suggestive, but is not a test for Cushing's per se. Each lab has its own ranges, so you need to get a copy of your own tests and know what lab was used.

The tests for Cushing's syndrome, in general are 24 hour cortisol (urinary free cortisol), serum cortisol at 8am, midnight serum cortisol, midnight saliva cortisol, free, a variety of dex tests, short, medium and long depending on how much dex you take, ACTH and a good doctor will go way beyond just the Cushing's hormones as cortisol effects so many other hormones such as thyroid, androgens, adrenal hormones, and all sorts of things including all the pituitary hormones.

If you get some positive tests, I would suggest seeking out an expert.
