Facial Paralysis After Gamma Knife Treatment of Meningioma

Facial Paralysis After Gamma Knife Treatment of Meningioma

I have a right side meningioma.  It was removed at the University of Chicago in 1989 in two operations three weeks apart.  In total, I spent over 22 hours in surgery.  In 1994, the tumor returned; this time the treatment was the Gamma Knife.  For the next 11 years, I had no ill effects and the tumor was in check.  In 2005, however, the tumor resumed growing and in January, 2006, I had a second Gamma Knife treatment.  This time I had substantial side effects, including right side weakness that put me in a walker, and right side facial paralysis.  I cannot blink my right eye, my ability to eat is greatly impaired, and my mouth does not seal,  resulting in almost continuous drooling.   Recently, I have begun to experience increasing amounts of facial tingling and itching on the right side.  Does this suggest I could have some hope for at least a partial recovery from this facial paralysis?
