How bad does this look to you?

This is for my father. He is currently in the hospital, waiting to speak to the neurologist. They haven't said the "c" word yet. I can clearly see those 3 white marbles (are they tumors?) in the middle  of his brain, but can't make heads or tails of anything else. Please, if you can help me, I would really appreciate it. Shine some light on this, if you can.

This is a MRI scan of my dad's brain. He was diagnosed previously with a severe b12 deficiency and vitamin D deficiency 4 months ago. He has taken medication to remedy these for 4 months.

In December 2013, he was in a car accident and had whiplash and went to the ER. I believe he had an MRI but I'm not sure. I am wondering how they missed the tumors???

Within the last few years, he has been experiencing dizzy spells, shot term memory problems, weakness in his arms and legs, muscle soreness, personality changes, equilibrium issues, gait changes. The tingling and numbness in his hands has been going on since 1996, but he attributed this to chemicals while working in the military. Just recently, he has began experiencing insomnia, waking up at random times during the night unable to get back to sleep. Things that used to be easy for him are becoming very difficult. He repeats things the next day after talking to him, although he told me yesterday.

His medical team is getting together to talk about it today and they will tell him soon on how they're going to go about treatment, and whether or not they are going to biopsy it or not. But what does it look like to you guys?

Age: 51 Sex: male height: 5'7 weight:178 race: white Duration of complaint: not sure. Years possibly. Peripheral Neropathy started in 1996. Other symptoms gradually piled on over the years. Location: Jacksonville, Arkansas Current medications: Zestril, started taking Trazodone a few days ago for insomnia, but stopped because they just found the tumor yesterday.

In short: How bad is this? Do you think cancer is a possibility? Please, I welcome speculation, I just want some ideas on what this could be.

THANK YOU!

This is a patient forum so we can only offer support and some advice from our own experience.

I cannot read an MRI (I get them all the time myself) but if I have to guess, it is not the white spots but the roundish area to the left that is the problem.

My other guess is that it is roundish, and that from what I read is better than things that are not round - but again... it is large though and his symptoms are consistent with mass effect.

I know my cousin had a malignant tumor in his thalamus and he had symptoms pretty consistent with your dad. His is surviving and doing pretty well. So your dad's current health and all will play a role in his treatment.

Keep us posted and I hope things go well for your dad!
