Contact Dr. Rob Dickerman at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano
Here is his website: http://neurotexas.com/
I was impressed with his knowledge & most important before my surgery he stressed that "He will do no harm". In other words, if it to dangerous to remove all the tumor thru the nose then he would leave it alone & do the rest with radiation. He is well respected in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
A 2 cm tumor should have been treated as soon as it was seen.
I would not freak out, but get more information.

You do not want to see just any surgeon - you want to find a pituitary surgeon. You want to find a neuro-endo (an endo that treats pituitary tumors and pituitary and more complex disorders) and that doctor can guide you to getting opinions from several skilled surgeons.
You do not want to just go to any surgeon off the street. The pituitary sits very close to the optic nerves and the carotids - so a surgeon who has no idea what he is doing can blind you or give you a stroke or kill you (to be blunt) so find the best, experienced surgeon around or travel. I know someone who went to a local surgeon and the person had no idea what to do and just removed the pituitary, not the tumor, rendering the person panhypopit at a young age so they would have to take lots of medications forever.
Hormone levels can vary. It may not be a prolactinoma as well. It could just have pressed on that area of the pituitary. Especially since it did not respond well to the medications - other causes of issues need to be explored and more testing needs to be done! A neuro-endo needs to be done.
