PROLACTENOMA

my doctor found that i have a pitutary adenoma which affect on my vision and prolactin hormone secretion,my tumor size is 4*4*3.5 part of the tumor is in the brain,i make endoscopic surgery from my nose and it result a debulking in the tumor but the tumor size is still the same also my doc. told me that he cannot touch the part of the tumor that in the brain and he begin a medical treatment with dostinex for 3 months, i take 1 pill everyday so that to decrease the prolactine secretion and the tumor size also,my doctor told me that it is possible that we can make a gamma knife after these 3 months or brain surgery.

My question is, does the dostinex will make the effect that it will decrease the tumor so that it is possible to make gamma knife or by this size there is no hope and brain surgery is needed?(i have the MRI and CT after the surgery)

Then the surgery helped - but I would see if the meds help more.
You do put your eyes at risk as well as your pituitary and your hormones with the gamma knife depending on the location - know where the tumor is know, and ask a lot of questions.
Gamma knife can help - but it takes a while - and you may not have another choice if your tumor is so aggressive.

thank u very much for answering me.
my doctor is worried that my optic chiasma  is in this tumor so that gamma knife will effect on my optic nerves, however they didn't tell me anything about losing other hormones, i am waiting for a Sweden expert that they told me that he is the best in making gamma knife and he is the only person that can help me to take the decision of making gamma or surgery but i am a little worry so i begin to ask about it.

You have a type of tumor that can be treated with medications. however, yours is very large.

Yes, you need to take the medications and see how it effects the size.

Has your doctor discussed with you the side effects of the gamma knife and that it will take 6 months to 5 years to work? And that you may lose your other hormones, and may have to take other medications?

Surgery carries the same risk of taking hormones, some of that depends on the skill of your surgeon - but the effect of relief will be immediate.

There are two medications available as well. You may want to get a second opinion.
