Pituitary Gland Tumor

Hi, I'm Tharsini, 20 y/o , well im having pituitary gland tumor , microadenoma . Now im under medication , cabergoline 0.5mg , but my prolactin is not stable, sometimes high , sometimes ok. Like my last result of my prolactin level in blood is 1,745 mIU/L . Well as i know, nonpregnant women range should be 59-619 right. (result on April ). So now i need to know , is microadenoma dangerous and may cause death , how long should i take the medication, what are the side effects?? Well, as i know people who having stomach ulcer should not take this medication , but the major thing is my doctor dont know im having stomach ulcer. So what should i do ? Nowadays im having headache even i take meloxicam to control it , still cant help it . Blurred vision some more . What should i do right now?? Im terribly in confusion , please do help me . tq

Go back and see your doctor. There are other medications available - and see if that helps stabilize your tumor.

The tumor is probably still there. Mine *hid* for years - it can fall between the MRI slices (3mm slices) or the radiologist can miss it - it is pretty easy. So go by the tests and see your doctor.

Actually i have done endoscopic for my ulcer past 2 yrs  , then only i get know im having im having pituitary gland tumor , well i done my last  MRI on Feb this year , Doc said there is nothing to worry about , it seems they cant find any tumor .

But I still have to under go medication since my prolactin level is slightly high then the range . Well past last two weeks , im having terrible headache  and blurred vision , so im started to worry about it .  Even my period is irregular , and not like normal flow. Very few !! And about lactating , obviously no for now .

Why does the prolactin range is high ? And why am i often go through headache and blurred vision  even sometimes i cant hear also . What should i do ?

Hello.
The type of tumor you have is not a dangerous one - especially when small. The side effects though are very annoying (had one myself) and so the quality of life is very much effected!

If that medication is not working for you, you can try parlodel - and see if that works better, or ask to up your dose. Do you suspect that you have an ulcer? Is there a reason for this? When was your last MRI? What is the size of your lesion? How often do you get tested? Are you still lactating? Is your period back?

Another option is surgery... but that is really a last resort when meds are available. Not that it is a bad thing - had it myself.
