Pituitary Tumor

I was diagnosed with a microadenoma a few weeks ago. It's a non-secreting one, blood work is all normal. The only thing that it's affecting is that I get headaches or a pressure on the left side of my head, some facial pain and numbness. That is the reason that I went to the doctor in the first place. I have an intolerance to cold and was late a little over two months and I am not pregnant. I have also had extreme joint pain in my right knee and muscle pain, but the neurosurgeon says it shouldn't have to do with the tumor. From the research I've done, I think the tumor's can cause arthritis. Anyway, the question that I have as of right now, is that I have been experiencing "floaters" in my vision...just spots and spider web type lines that move with my eye movement and have been there for a little over a week. Has anyone experienced this as well or do you know if would relate to the tumor? I have made a phone call to the neurosurgeon and am waiting for a reply. As of right now, he is wanting to wait three months to follow up with another MRI. He does not want to refer me to an endocrinologist because he said the tumor is non-secreting and isn't affecting my hormones...but isn't there a possibility for it to change into a hormone secreting one? I am kind of confused and debating on what I should do. I've been doing a lot of praying.....I know this isn't anything "life threatening", but if something is there that isn't supposed to be there, then why leave it there or wait?

Not enough tests. Go to an endo.
MRIs are not how pit tumors are diagnosed but lab testing is what you need - so you need a doctor who is competent in treating them.
Waiting does... nothing.
Get to someone that knows what they are doing.

Well the neurosurgeon said it isn't non-secreting because the blood work came back normal. He ordered TSH, Cortisol, Estrogen...a couple of other things, I don't remember. So that's what he was basing it off of. I had a feeling that he wasn't aware of the condition that much just because of the pain in my knee and he said the pains that I am describing sound like early symptoms of MS, but it is probably too soon to diagnose that. But I have read that you may have arthritis sypmtoms if you have a pituitary tumor.

I have been waiting to make my next MRI appointment, which is less than 3 months away, but don't really want to wait..especially since I've been seeing "floaters" for the past week. When I was diagnosed with the tumor, the neurosurgeon did say he would refer me to someone that specializes in the condition if I wanted, but he would probably tell me the same thing...."to wait". So it's just a little frustrating.

Wait - if you have not seen an endo, then how do you know if the tumor is non-secreting? Regular tests may be normal, but an endo will run more specific tests and see what is really going on. That is, if you see a neuro-endo.

Have you seen a neuro-opthomologist?

The surgeon is not  your point person on this, get to an endo. You are having period issues - so you need testing as you probably do have issues.
