I was diagnosed with a pituitary tumor November 2007.On January 8th i called my endo doc because i noticed my hair and eyebrows where getting thin and the hair on my legs where growing only in some areas. Also' i have been getting cold and sweating. I had some lab work done on 9th of January inwhich showed my TSH was 3.095 (0.450-500) T4 1.07(0.61-1.76) inwhich was in normal range. My pcm doctor also done some test. Ferritin level was low,ANA was normal everything else can back normal. Could my iron level be doing this or something else?
Your TSH is high on the new scale, and high for most people to feel well. Also, if you have a pituitary tumor (have you have surgery?), then the TSH is not a valid indicator anyway.
You need more than a T4 to help you out on the thyroid - what about the Free T3, Free T4?
What kind of pituitary tumor? Is it being treated? What is happening?
What about vitamin D and other things? Is that all the testing you had?
I have had a basic metabolic panel(normal range) Alpha subunit 0.19,T4 free direct, no T3 test was done.Tsh,Igf-1 94 (101-267) Cortisol 8.6 (3.1-22.4) Prolactin 6.3 (2.8-29.2) I have not had any treatment or surgery yet.My MRI is in may. The doctor said that if it has gotten any bigger than he will set me up for surgery.I have a Pituitary Microadenoma that is 5.6mm.My pcm ran cbc, ana, Ferritin and she took an hair sample too get tested for fungus. I just cant see my ferritin level being the cause of all my issues.
Oh dear, you have multiple issues going on - you have low growth hormone, low thyroid and even though your cortisol was in the normal ranges, he did not test the pituitary factor - ACTH. You need more testing - and replacement hormones to feel back to normal.
Size is simply not a factor in treatment of pituitary tumors. You are sick now. You need treatment now. Low Ferratin is typical of those with multiple hormonal issues. Ferratin is a component, but not the source.
